LUCKNOW - WING HOUSE

The Original Wing House in Lucknow may have only opened this past winter, but it’s already made a big splash in the local dining scene. This brand-new sports bar is part of a growing Ontario-based franchise known for its vast wing menu and welcoming atmosphere, has hit the ground running. In just a few short months, it hosted its first Super Bowl party, fed throngs of hungry hockey teams after arena games and even opened its doors early to serve Caesars during the 2026 Winter Olympics. With the warmth of spring upon us and baseball and cottage season on the horizon, Lucknow’s Wing House seems to be settling into its new home quite nicely.

The Original Wing House franchise is Canadian-owned, with a menu that ranges from straightforward favourites to seriously spicy specialties - there really is something for everybody. They have great wings, reasonably-priced drinks, friendly service and more than enough televisions for every patron to have a good view of whatever game they most want to lay eyes on.

Fittingly, the restaurant occupies one of downtown Lucknow’s most storied spaces - a building on the corner of Campbell Street long known locally as a spot with a rather sporting history. A large mural on the side commemorates the iconic moment when Paul Henderson scored the goal everyone remembers during the 1972 Summit Series  - a piece of Canadian hockey lore that resonates with locals and visitors alike. As a boy, Henderson himself was known to practice his stick-handling skills in the basement of the building.

Being directly across the street from the Lucknow and District Arena also pretty much guarantees that this spot will fill up quickly whenever tournaments or big games are on. With its easy to rearrange seating plan and quick-serve menu, the Wing House is angling to fit the bill for a perfect post-game gathering spot for teams, families and fans.

Of course, you don’t need to be a sports fan to enjoy Lucknow’s new noshery - it also has two-person booths perfect for a springtime date night. Wednesday is Wing Night - the ideal time to dive into what Lucknow’s Wing House is all about. Wing night at the Wing House means that the first pound of wings you order comes with an additional half of a pound for free. It’s important to note that this deal is limited to one per customer, but it’s equally important to note that any number of free wings is always an exciting prospect. It’s a no-brainer for wing lovers and sets the stage perfectly for an evening of flavour experimentation.

Inside, the experience feels like it was designed for high energy and high traffic. Tables come equipped with rolls of paper towels to deal with all the saucy fingers. The vibe strikes a balance between lively and comfortable - there is sports memorabilia covering every square inch of the walls, with a motorcycle and canoe thrown in for good measure. Competitive pricing and combo deals that range from single-serving options to feeding parties of 20. The Wing House knows how to bring people in beyond weekends and big games. Daily specials are tailored to draw diners from Sunday through Thursday - and families are clearly a focus. On Mondays, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal - dine-in only. Kid-friendly options like chicken nuggets, chicken fingers and wings are all served with fries.

But the real headline here - and what many serious sauce aficionados are going to swoon over - is the sheer variety of wing flavours available at the Original Wing House proudly offers over 150 flavour choices, but we counted 165 on the menu!

The offerings span six distinct categories: The Sweet Heart, The World Tour, Creamy and Messy, Original Mixed, Grandpa’s Backyard and Dry Rubs. With that many possibilities, it’s easy to see why you’ll be planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your first basket of wings.

Wings arrive very lightly breaded and perfectly crispy. Dine-in orders are served with celery, carrots and bleu cheese dip, whereas take-out orders do not. Also, take-out wings from any restaurant will simply never be as crispy as their restaurant counterparts. If you’re interested in sampling more flavours without commitment, order your wings dry and order extra sauces on the side - it costs a bit extra, but is absolutely worth it for the chance to experiment.

A friendly and well-informed server is an essential asset when it comes to navigating the sauce menu - the current staff favourite of the moment is Lucknow Girls - it’s sweet, it’s ranch-y, and it’s overall a great place to start for anyone looking for big flavour without the burn.

From the World Tour section, two very different sauces showed off the range of the menu. Canadian delivered a mild maple-BBQ profile with comforting sweetness, while Japanese Jerk packed a punch, combining sticky, teriyaki-style sweetness with a confident level of spice.

The true standout, however, was Traditional Tamil, listed among the spiciest options at eight chillies. Despite its intimidating rating, the heat never overwhelmed the flavour. Instead, it arrived as a richly layered sauce - chunky with hot pepper seeds, studded with pickled green chillies and deeply aromatic. The heat built gradually, starting as a pleasant tingle before developing into a slow, lingering intensity that demanded napkins and cold drinks well after the last bite.

While wings are undoubtedly the star, the menu goes far beyond. Sandwich options range from the straightforward to the adventurous. The breaded chicken sandwich tossed in Kansas City-style BBQ sauce is simple, satisfying and served with fries.

Burgers also range from basic to complicated -  the Aloha Burger is a delightfully different winner - it features a thick Angus beef patty topped with grilled pineapple, red onions and pineapple curry sauce - it balances its sweet and savoury tones nicely.

The kitchen also serves up a solid lineup of shareables designed to please a crowd: chicken fingers, quesadillas, nachos, mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers - all the usual suspects. The dessert menu is straight-up and designed for broad appeal - cheesecake, chocolate brownies with walnuts and ice cream with sprinkles all make an appearance.

But there’s also a lot of intriguing reasons for spice enthusiasts to make the trip to Lucknow. Menu items like the African Chicken Caesar Salad, the Traditional Tamil Chicken Wrap and the Ceylon Ribs all point to a kitchen staff that isn’t afraid to bring the heat.

Lucknow’s Original Wing House is a sports bar that’s striving to be more than just another sports bar. From the local history posted in the front windows to the family-friendly vibe, it feels like a place planning to put down roots in the community.  Whether you’re stopping in for a midweek meal with the kids, out on a date or celebrating a big win, this restaurant delivers flavour, atmosphere and a warm welcome. And if wings are all you’re looking for, don’t worry - they have them in spades. www.winghouse.ca 648 Campbell Street, Lucknow
