Stitches with a Twist
Winter is definitely the right time to get cozy with a pair of needles and a ball of yarn. Everything you could need for all your knitting and crochet needs can be found at Stitches with a Twist at 404 Queen Street, Blyth.
Irene Kellins has been running this shop for nine years and she has a lifetime of experience with pretty much all of the fibre arts. She is happy to help you choose supplies for a new project, or help you out of a tangled problem with an old one. The store has developed a reputation for carrying a wide variety of yarn brands, including the New Brunswick brand Briggs and Little (Canada’s oldest woolen mill) and local brands such as Steele Wool Farm. There is a great selection of knitting books, patterns, needles and hooks. Chain mail and the very trendy macrame supplies are also available.
A unique section of the store is dedicated to consignments of previously-loved yarn. Local crafters bring in yarn that is leftover from a project, or just not being used, to sell on to other crafters. This is a great opportunity to grab a smaller amount for a little project, or for beginning crafters to try yarns without a huge investment; recycling at its best!
Irene also takes in some custom sewing and alterations.
As public health protocols allow, Stitches with a Twist hosts Knit and Natter nights and was able to do so in the summer with the help of the Blyth Lions Park pavilion.
