Huron County Wedding Show
On April 4, the Huron County Wedding Show will again take over the Benmiller Inn and Spa - a picturesque wedding venue in its own right - as a service to all of the brides-to-be and happy couples looking to square away every last detail of their special day.
Entry to the event is free. It runs from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and organizer Heather Dietz, who is also one of the county’s leading wedding photographers, says that she has 16 vendors confirmed for this year’s event, but that she was hoping that even more would come aboard. Her goal each year has been to have between 15 and 20 vendors at the Benmiller Inn for the show and that the size of the show has steadily increased year over year. Furthermore, she says she sees a lot of vendors return year after year, meaning that they’re clearly benefitting from connecting with potential patrons at a grassroots level that really injects the personal touch back into the wedding planning process after so much of it has moved online and into social media.
Being at the Benmiller Inn and speaking face-to-face with a potential wedding photographer, a caterer, a D.J. or a band or a dressmaker has a completely different impact that thumbing through an online gallery on your phone and Dietz has seen that personal touch leave a lasting impression on those who make the time to come to the show.
Dietz has been working as one of the leaders of the show for almost 10 years. As a young wedding photographer, she was involved much earlier than that when a number of other wedding vendors were serving as organizers. When they wanted to take a step back, Dietz and a handful of others from her generation stepped up and, in recent years, it’s mostly been Dietz who has been doing the organizing, though she’s not without a little help from her friends.
She says that those attending the show can expect to see the best wedding vendors from throughout Huron County there ready to impress. The show is very much about shopping local - local vendors presenting to locals who are getting married, though she says that some people will travel from outside of the area to be part of the show.
There will be florists, venues, caterers, photographers, bands and D.J.s and more, really anything and everything that goes into planning a wedding should be represented there that day.
Dietz also speaks very highly of the setting, saying that this is the third year that the show will be at the Benmiller Inn and it has proved to be a warm setting for the show, rather than the cold, overwhelming nature of a convention centre.
