Honest Llama: Exeter’s Newest Spot for Honest Food and Friendly Vibes
There’s a brand new place to eat in Exeter, and it’s not just the quirky name that’s catching people’s attention; it’s the food, the atmosphere, and the heart behind it all. Honest Llama, run by husband-and-wife duo Dan and Allie Langver, opened its doors on August 16, 2025, and the community has already started to embrace it as a go-to spot for relaxed, high-quality dining.
After moving to Exeter from another small town earlier this year, the Langvers have poured their energy into building a place that feels warm and welcoming, with food that speaks for itself. Dan, a Red Seal chef, handles the kitchen with serious chops (get it?), while Allie brings nearly 20 years of hospitality experience to the table. Together, they’re doing it all, just the two of them, and it shows in every plate that comes out of their kitchen.
The restaurant’s name might lead with “honest,” but it’s the words “friendly, fresh, and delicious” that Allie and Dan use to describe what really defines Honest Llama. Their menu is built for flexibility, with an à la carte approach that encourages customers to build meals that suit their cravings. Want two sandwiches and a large fry to split? Go for it. Just want a generous helping of smoked pulled pork on its own? That works too. It’s food made from scratch– no shortcuts, no pre-packaged anything. From burgers that start with raw beef on the grill, to hand-cut fries and barbecue smoked for hours, this is a place where real cooking is the standard.
There’s more on the horizon, too. As fall sets in, Honest Llama is expanding its drink offerings with a rotating selection from local craft breweries. They’ve recently launched their draft beer service and have plans to bring in more local options, creating a perfect pairing for those hearty fall meals. And in November, they’ll be participating in a community-wide burger competition, with part of the proceeds supporting United Way. It's a chance for guests to eat great food and support a great cause.
More than just a place to eat, Honest Llama is quickly becoming part of Exeter’s fabric. The couple behind it aren't just serving food, they’re building something rooted in community, craftsmanship, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or planning to settle in with a beer and a burger, it’s a place where good food meets good people, and where you’ll probably end up staying a little longer than you planned.
