Blyth Bike Rentals
Don’t let the name fool you! Goderich Bike Shop is now facilitating the bike rental business in Blyth. They worked with the Blyth Bike Tours to provide fat bike rentals to its fleet this past winter and have now purchased the business and will incorporate the bike inventory into their existing business.
Brendan Sowerby, owner of the Goderich Bike Shop and co-owner of Goderich Surf Shop, is excited about the addition of the Blyth location to the business. A full line of rental bikes is currently available at the Blyth location behind the Blyth Studio Suites, including mountain bikes, hybrids, e-bikes, fat bikes and a tandem. Goderich Bike Shop is a full service bike store with sales, as well as parts and service with certified bike mechanics.
While the current system is to call the Goderich Bike Shop to book your rental and then pick it up in Blyth, Sowerby says the goal is to have pick-ups and drop-offs in both Blyth and Goderich by the summer season. The company is also working on a contactless system that will be even more convenient.
The improvements on the Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail (G2G) has been a boon to the bike business. The traffic on the trail has grown exponentially, and Goderich Bike Shop has grown with it. It has seen an increase in interest in biking due to the pandemic as well, with it being a safe, outdoor activity that the whole family can enjoy. In fact, the demand is so great that purchasing a bike right now can be difficult with long wait times and backorders.
Sowerby points out that at just $50 to rent a hybrid bike for the whole day, it is an affordable addition to your vacation. Located at the rear of 437 Dinsley St., Blyth. www.goderichbikeshop.com. 519-955-5100.
