Clinton Spring Fair 2026
The Clinton Spring Fair will be celebrating its 172nd incarnation this spring.
Secretary-Treasurer Janet Cameron, a long-time volunteer, says there was a couple of years during the War when there was no fair but other than that they've hosted the fair every year, including a few virtual fairs during COVID.
This year there are a few notable changes to some of the fair’s most beloved events. Cameron says this year they'll have two demolition derbies. The first one will be on Friday night at its regular time of 7 p.m., with a second derby on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm, after moving the Stone Boat Pullers to Sunday afternoon.
Cameron says other events include a baby show and several youth events that they're still working on, including a pedal garden tractor obstacle course. The poultry show will be on the Saturday and that will be inside the arena and that's become very popular. The Ambassador's Competition is scheduled for Friday night. Cameron says most of the events will be at the Clinton racetrack and the grandstand, with the midway opposite the grandstand, with other events in the Libro Hall or on the arena floor.
Cameron says something new this year is the quarter auction, a fundraiser that’s taking place at Libro Hall on March 25. Bidders will purchase a ticket for five dollars that allows them to pick out an actual ping pong paddle that will have their bidder number on it that they can use to bid on items from the vendors that will be there auctioning off their items. Items are set at between one and four quarter bids. If interested in an item being auctioned off, you place the number of quarters requested for a bid in a dish on the table and raise your paddle. If your number is drawn, you win the item being auctioned off.
She says they'll also have face-painting and some other events that they're in the process of finalizing. More information can be found on their web site or their Facebook Page and updates will be added as they get closer to the opening. The Fair opens Friday night, June 5 and continues through Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7. Cameron points out that they are the first of twelve spring fairs to open in Huron and Perth County.
